New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed into law a pair of pay equity bills designed to address wage inequality and expand protections against pay discrimination. Among other things, the new laws will (i) amend New York’s current equal pay law to cover a number of additional protected categories, and (ii) prohibit employers from asking job applicants or current employees for salary history. Join us as James Grasso and Luke Kalamas, attorneys with Phillips Lytle LLP, discuss the changes, as well as next steps for employers to ensure compliance.
