Elevate Rochester, in partnership with Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to present a program on the timely topic of civility. In life as well as the workplace, conflict is often presented to us as a negative experience to avoid, which locks down creativity and prevents necessary difficult conversations from occurring. When conversations do occur due to conflicting opinions about racial injustice, politics, religion, or other trigger topics, there is a general lack of civility, underscoring the need for better tools so employees can engage with each other in a more respectful manner.
Join us for this timely workshop as Kit Miller, director of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, takes us through interactive exercises, discussion, and role plays to explore the potential of conflict transformation, particularly as a tool for systems change in the workplace. Unlock the creativity and innovation of your employees through transforming the way they communicate in the face of conflict, and help drive your organization’s success to new heights.
Learning objectives for this session:
• Increase understanding of conflict transformation within systemic change efforts in the workplace
• Increase employee self-awareness regarding personal patterns and history in relation to conflict
• Increase the willingness for employees to engage in difficult conversations while grounded in purpose
• Improve the level of civility employees exhibit during everyday workplace conversations
