No segment of our society is immune to the ravages of opioids from prescription pain killers to street drugs. Monroe County launched an Opioid Action Plan earlier this year to combat the opioid crisis that has raced its way through our community and others nationwide. As part of the Opioid Action Plan, Monroe County Public Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza has convened an advisory panel with the goal of identifying and removing barriers for those seeking treatment for heroin and opioid addiction and looking at other data to better protect our community. At this May 22 Rochester TRENDS event, hear from Dr. Mendoza and a panel of experts including Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter, Rochester Police Department Sergeant Brett Sobieraski, and East House, Director, Admissions Elizabeth Kingsley Curran LMSW, CASAC. Huther Doyle counselor Willie Jeanne Rounds-Dean will also be on hand to talk about her recovery journey. The event includes a question and answer session with our panel of opioid prevention, treatment, and law enforcement experts.
