Compensation Plan Design
Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
*In Person Training*
Compensation is strategy, not math. Salary bands, job evaluation, incentives, bonuses, merit systems, pay transparency — this is the architecture of fairness and competitiveness. This course is for those who are NOT compensation professionals. This course explores how organizations design compensation systems that are fair, competitive, and aligned with strategy. Students learn the building blocks on how to build salary structures, evaluate jobs, design incentive plans, analyze market data, and ensure pay equity. If you want to influence performance, culture, and organizational success, this course gives you the tools by providing in depth information on the following topics:
- FLSA - understand the criteria and salary thresholds required to determine exempt status
- Job Descriptions - important for hiring and retaining employees as well as for sound compensation decisions
- Salary Ranges - creating and maintaining salary ranges
- Dealing with compensation challenges such as compression, pay equity, etc.
- Also covers Market Pricing, Point Factor Analysis, Job Slotting and Ranking, and more!
- In Class Exercise: Job Description Rating
This course is part of the HR Management Series, a comprehensive, hands-on series of 8 HR-related classes designed to refresh knowledge for people already in the HR profession or provide a comprehensive overview of HR policies and practices for newer HR professionals, as well as those in other positions that have been assigned HR responsibilities. Some sessions will also be helpful to supervisors looking to expand their knowledge of HR practices. In class exercises and discussion help reinforce the learning. Registrants may register for any of the half-day modules of interest or for all of the module(s) (8 half-day modules available).
