This is a celebration of "the other Thanksgiving" and we celebrate UMOJA KARAMU! -- Umoja Karamu (meaning, “unity feast”) was established in 1971 as a Black cultural celebration acknowledged during the fourth Sunday in November; often regarded as “the other Thanksgiving.” It is a ritual for the Black Family to create new meaning and solidarity through ceremony and symbolism.
