Description
The event is a nonviolent, compassionate response to immigration in our time. Rooted in faith, guided by peace, and open to all. Opening remarks will be delivered by Mayor Malik Evans. Panelists include: Patrick Beath, Corporation Council, City of Rochester; Esma Nacakgedigi, Immigration attorney, Refugee Resettlement Services; Deputy Ray Ruiz, Community Liaison, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department; Jonathon Jones, Nonviolence Trainer, MK Ghandhi Institute for Nonviolence. The panel will be moderated by Sr. Barbara Moore. Learn more about Rochester as a Sanctuary City, the process required of immigrants to become permanent residents, First Amendment right to peaceful protest and deescalating violence.
