Sips of the Season

Discover the perfect wines for your festive table at our "Sips of the Season" event, an expertly curated tasting journey designed to enhance every part of your celebratory meal. This special event guides you through a selection of five distinct wines, each chosen to pair with a specific course. Your tasting will begin with a crisp, palate-cleansing wine that can be used as an aperitif or a sparkling toast to mark the occasion. The experience then transitions to a wine perfectly suited for the main meal and a rich, luxurious pairing for dessert. Finally, you'll explore additional tastings for those special "in-between" moments, ensuring your season is filled with delicious discoveries.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Smoller has had a passion for wine since his days living near Napa Valley. He has been seriously studying wine for the last 11 years and has completed three of the six sections of the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) level 4 (Diploma level). Along the way he has also completed the Italian Wine Scholar and French Wine Scholar programs (Wine Scholar Guild), the Spanish Wine Expert course, along with master level courses in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, Loire Valley, Rhone Valley, Champagne, and Rioja, all with honors. His wine studies are not limited to Europe, however, and he has also successfully completed courses about wines from California, Oregon and Texas, Argentina, Chile, China, Georgia, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
He has been formally certified as an instructor for the WSET program, as well as by the Wine Scholar Guild. He teaches several wine courses at Daemen University and Finger Lakes Community College and gives wine presentations throughout the greater Rochester region. He is the owner of Know Wine, LLC (www.knowwine.net). In his spare time, he is a Professor at Univ. Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
