Applied Image, Inc. is a Rochester-based precision optical manufacturer with a 47-year history of making the calibration standards and test targets that the world's most demanding imaging and photonic systems depend on. Our products — test targets, calibration standards, barcode verifier standards, photomasks, and custom precision optical components — are used in defense targeting systems, satellite cameras, medical imaging devices, machine vision systems, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

We hold ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation and are the only globally accredited laboratory to produce calibration standards for bar code verifiers (instruments that grade the quality of printed bar codes under ISO/IEC standards). Our calibration targets have been selected by NASA for use on two Mars Rovers and the International Space Station. We manufacture custom solutions with a minimum order quantity of one and serve customers across R&D, defense prime, and global OEM production programs. Our customers come to us when off-the-shelf solutions do not exist and precision is not optional.

Applied Image creates patterned optical components, image quality, measurement and calibration standards that help innovators capture more clearly, measure more accurately, and deliver with complete confidence.

We reduce measurement uncertainty in imaging systems where accuracy actually matters. We build the calibration standards engineers use to verify that systems are measuring what they think they're measuring — and to quantify how confident they should be in the answer.

Our team works with project management, imaging science, and engineering teams in regulated, mission-critical, high-precision industries — where "accurate enough" isn't a defensible answer.
