Policy Matters: New York's Energy Future
Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (EDT)
Description
Energy availability, reliability, and affordability have dominated policy conversations in recent years, and are paramount to our region's and state's success in the future. You're invited to a Policy Matters event on Tuesday, September 22 to hear from subject matter experts and legislative leaders on how Governor Hochul and the State Legislature are making meaningful changes to State policy to address these concerns. Panelists will be announced soon.
In the FY27 New York State budget, changes to New York State's 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) aimed to rein in the increases in electric bills hitting all New Yorkers and businesses, while keeping New York on the path to a cleaner, more sustainable energy grid. Alongside investments made to our power system, Greater Rochester Chamber and our partners are actively monitoring and advocating for an energy future that balances our state's climate and economic goals.
Join us to learn more about:
- Will the changes make a difference in electric bills?
- What are the next steps we need to take to ensure we have a reliable energy grid to not only keep the lights on, but also grow our economy?
- How do we ensure wind and solar power are part of the solution in the Trump era?
- What role does the Governor's proposed nuclear expansion play into our energy future, and where does that idea stand?
Please register by Tuesday, September 15th. No refunds will be issued after this date
